After a cancelled fixture last Sunday due to the weather, Louth Old Boys U15s were looking forward to another chance to extend their 100% record in the league with a trip to Lincoln to play Greenbank.

Historically, this has always been a fixture that Old Boys have struggled with, but with their confidence high, they were looking to take all the points home.

On a heavy and uneven pitch, both teams settled into their game-plan, and after the first 20 minutes, neither team had taken the lead.

With the ball bobbling on the floor, Greenbank changed their game-plan and started to fire long balls forward to chase onto and were soon a goal up.

Old Boys rallied and were on level terms after Jan Meiwald took advantage of a panicking defence to fire in the equaliser.

With the game becoming very scrappy, Greenbank stuck to their task, and just before half time they were rewarded with what turned out to be the winning goal.

Louth were better organised in the second half but it seemed, regardless of their efforts, the ball just wouldn’t go in the net.

After an incredible run of winning 14 consecutive games since pre-season, Louth Old Boys finally lost a match. With the pressure of the record finally taken away, Louth Old Boys will be looking to relax and play the final fixtures of the season with more of a smile on their faces.
