Two goals at the start of the second half consigned Louth Town to defeat in the Lincolnshire League on Saturday.
At half-time they looked on course to pull off a surprise against Lincoln Moorlands Railway, the league’s in-form team.
But George Zeurner put the visitors ahead just two minutes into the second half and eight minutes later Simon Mowbray doubled their lead.
Louth remain in ninth place following the 2-0 defeat, their fifth straight loss and the third consecutive match they have failed to find the net.
Moorlands closed to within three points of top spot after their 12th consecutive league win.
Town take a break from the league on Saturday when they host Sleaford Sports Amateurs in the quarter-finals of the Supplementary Cup (kick-off 2.30pm).
