Mablethorpe Football Club to hold fundraising open day

MABLETHORPE Football Club are counting on public support in an effort to raise £5,000 at their fun day this Sunday, October 23.

The club was devastated by last year’s harsh winter weather and is hoping to find the money in order to make sure there is no repeat of such a disaster.

The day’s showpiece five-a-side competition will run alongside stalls, raffles and prizes and the day starts at 10am at Sherwood Fields.

Organisers are hoping to purchase new safe and secure storage facilities, and pool and darts equipment. Plans are also in place to develop the facilities to include even more members of the community.

Paul Clifford, manager of Mablethorpe Colts FC, explained: “I am hoping that the residents of Mablethorpe and the outlying towns and villages along with visitors to the town will support us because this is a grass roots community club.

“We are committed to providing facilities for all ages and genders, especially giving youngsters a reason to stay off the streets.”

Sponsored by Willson’s Estate Agents and Santander, the day will also incorporate a karaoke competition at 2pm, football coaching, raffles and auctions.

Go along and support what promises to be an entertaining and worthwhile community event.
