The first round of the new Mablethorpe Six-a-Side League season kicked off last week with three teams earning walkover wins while new sides completed registration.

Norfolk Chance recovered from narrowly missing out on the title by easing past SA Shooters 6-2 on opening night.

Dave Matthews put the Shooters ahead from long range, but Dan Marshall’s quickfire hat-trick gave Norfolk a 3-1 half-time lead.

Tired legs then allowed last season’s runners-up to rattle off another three goals after the break.

In the night’s only other competitive fixture, Johnsonbenoncn ran out 5-2 winners against Kolo Puree.

Max Hesling gave Johnsonbenoncn an early lead despite a fantastic save from Puree’s Anthony Davies, and Ben Edwards replied with two fine driven goals.

But Ryan Worrell was the game’s stand-out performer with a fine hat-trick to wrap up a comprehensive win.

Deefending champions, Candy Flossers and Gerry Hat-tricks were all awarded 5-0 wins.
