Old Boys keep their nerve to seal shoot-out success

Louth Old Boys FC had 14 teams in action this weekend with a lot of first round cup draws being played.

The senior reserves took on Chapel Swifts reserves and came out on top of a very enjoyable 4-3 win in the Reserves Team Cup.

The U9 reds were away at Waltham Rovers which ended in a 1-1 draw with T Scott on target again for Old Boys.

The U11s Mid Lincs played host to Greenbank Barracudas in their first round cup draw. They battled to a 2-0 half time lead and finally finished the game at 4-1, J Tebbs, B Jacklin, D Simmonds and J Goddard on the score sheet.

A stunner of a game was seen at Mablethorpe Athletic were the U13s played their first round cup match.

After going in at half time 2-1 down the team battled to a full time score of 2-2, this bought out extra time and with the score still level, a penalty shoot out was required.

Old Boys kept their nerve and won the game 4-5. On target was A Midmer and J Riddel and the penalties were scored by T Millward, R Sweatman, J White, J Riddel and S Rhodes.

The U14s also in the cup were at home to Birchwood Colts. A shaky start saw them go 1-3 down at half time but in the second half the U14s came out with grit and determination and won the game 4-3.

The U15s playing away were on fine form as they put nine past Sibsey Juniors, 6-0 up by half time they were in full control of the game and slotted another three away in the second half. X Avevor (4), S Swaby (2), D Bates (2) and J Cook netting for the U15s.

The U18s saw out a 3-3 draw away to Grantham Town. On target for the U18s team were M Warsap, C Brabury and a strike from T Corden secured a share of the points.
