ONE of the first competitions at the beginning of the season for the Kenwick Park Golf Club men was the Seafridge Salvers.
The format for the qualifying round is foursomes medal and the top eight qualifiers went through to the matchplay rounds to decide the eventual winners.
Sam Howsam and Ben Bierley won the qualifying competition with a round of net 68 from runners-up Clive James and Andy Sherratt who scored 68.5.
Paddy Shillington and Paul Dewhurst came third with 69.5.
A countback on 70.5 placed Brian Handley and Jeff Crowther in fourth place ahead of Howard Gobey and Martin Peters.
Father and son Dave and Lewis Hackett claimed the sixth spot with 72.5 ahead of Dave Rushworth and Bob Houlton with 74. The final qualifiers were John Payne and Phil Walmsley with 74.5.
Warm Spring sunshine greeted the Kenwick Park ladies as they turned up to play in a stableford competition.
A countback on 34 points was needed the separate the top three places in the silver division with Julie Harvey (12) being declared the winner.
Jenny Rickett (16) was placed second ahead of Val Pattinson in third.
One of last week’s winners Sue Burkitt (24) won again this week taking the top spot in the bronze division with 35 points. Jo Herring (25) was second with 34 ahead of Pam Hayward (35) in the third spot.
