Legbourne CC under 13s have celebrated a league and cup double in only their second season of competitive cricket at this level.
The team were crowned East Lindsey Cricket Junior League champions and cup winners, and also reached the semi-finals of the Lincolnshire County Cup.
They were well backed up by Fergus Ringland, Jack Sandy and Edward King who took Legbourne to a total of 128 runs from their allotted 20 overs.
Sutton got off to a solid start in reply, but good bowling and tight fielding, along with a couple of smart catches by Bell and wicketkeeper Raif Smith, restricted them to 81-6.
Jack Sandy, Edward King, Leo Smith and Branden Blackburn shared the wickets for Legbourne.
The following Monday evening saw the under 13s play their final league match of the season against Horncastle where they continued their winning ways to become ELCL Under 13 champions having won all of their matches and topped the table with 19 points.
Under 13s coach, Greg Smith, said: “Our aim this year has been to build on our performance from last year and to continue to develop players’ skills and enthusiasm for the game as this is only the second year playing in the under 13s arena.
“We have a great junior coaching set-up at Legbourne with excellent facilities thanks to the grants from Sport England and ELDC allowing us to engage with children of all abilities from an early age.
“This ethos together with some new players to the club have seen us improve faster than I could have hoped for. I am very proud of all the juniors that have turned out for us.
“They have been supported by dedicated parents and volunteers, and we are grateful for their help.”
