LOUTH Indoor Bowls Club will be represented in a couple of county semi-finals at Spalding later this month.
Amy Gowshall and Alan Dent (Jnr) got through in the Mixed Pairs with an excellent 21-9 victory at Lincoln and the same venue saw Tony Musson, Richard Armitage and Harry Putland win 22-13 in the Men’s Triples.
The club’s Men’s Over 60 team were beaten for only the second time in a county league match when losing 96-108 at Dunhome despite winning on three rinks.
The home team had been ahead on all five rinks halfway through the match and Louth did very well to fight back. The points gained put Louth 38 points ahead of Stamford who have yet to visit Birch Road.
The Men’s ‘B’ team disappointingly lost 73-110 away against bottom team Sleaford.
Louth did manage to win on two rinks but the home team were dominant on the other three.
The Ladies team were also well beaten by 70-134 in their Trudy Bates match at Spalding but only after three home rinks had piled up the shots in the second part of the contest.
The only success for Louth was a draw on Sylvia Stainton’s rink although M Leggett’s rink only lost by two shots.
In the club’s leagues the fist team to be crowned champions are Jayees who have clinched the Ladies league.
D Roper and J Jacklin maintained their hundred per cent record in division 2 of theTuesday Mixed Pairs with a simple 20-6 victory and are one match away from securing top spot.
