Louth Taverners hosted Sea side Skegness in the latest East Lindsey cricket match on Sunday.

Louth Taveners won the toss and batted first which turned out to be a good decision as Louth’s openers Zain Siddiqui and young Richard Bell had an excellent opening partnership of 145 runs, when Zain was bowled for a well played 76.

Richard however continued his good form from last Sunday’s game and kept finding the gaps in the field with his stylish stroke play. He had a further 77 runs partnership with Zeeshan Ahmed who made a quick 50 off 29 balls to increase the run rate.

Louth managed a formidable 266/3 in their allocated 40 overs. Richard was 67 not out and carried his bat through the innings.

Skegness started the chase well with the Aussie batsman Hoskin batting well and made 79 not out, and carrying his bat through the Skegness innings, but wickets fell around him at regular intervals, with Cheema taking three wickets for Louth and A Smart, Tanzeel and Bill Dywer each taking two wickets and skipper Zubair chipped in with one wicket.

Skegness managed 162 runs and were all out for 162 runs.

Louth Taverners will host Friesten on 01-09-13 and hope to continue their excellent winning run.
