ALFORD hockey star Glenn Kirkham will be performing in front of the eyes of the world on Monday as the 2012 London Olympics get underway.
The 29-year-old who went to the town’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School is part of the Team GB 16-strong men’s hockey squad.
The side get their campaign underway against Argentina at 7pm after being drawn against Australia, Spain, Pakistan, Argentina and South Africa in Pool A.
The top two sides will make it through to the last four.
Glenn joins fellow local athletes Kate Haywood (Louth), Holly Arnold (Holton le Clay) and Jamie Carter (Binbrook) as part of Team GB’s medal hopefuls.
