With weather conditions more akin to an autumn, 12 members of Market Rasen Angling Association met at the lake in Willingham Road to fish the penultimate round of the Jackson Buildbase Summer League and also for the Presidents Cup.

The general consensus was fishing would be very hard and weights would be low. Following the draw this proved to be the case and as the match progressed getting the fish to feed for a long period in the pegs was proving to be a near impossible task at times.

Come the end it was Bud Chambers fishing the feeder from peg 7 that won the match with two good bream for 7lb 4oz. He retains the Presidents Cup.

Second place went to the current league leader Barry De’Ath with 5lb 12oz, caught on pole and waggler from peg 30, Dave Appleyard took third spot with 5lb 2oz, fishing the feeder and waggler from peg 14 and in doing so took eight match points, keeping his hopes of the title still alive.

With the angler’s next two matches not being Jackson Buildbase Summer League matches, it will then all come down to the final match on the Sunday September 14 to see which angler will be crown champion for the year.

Barry De’Ath will have a four point advantage going into the match over Dave Appleyard.
