ATHLETICS: Louth and Mablethorpe well represented in memorial race

Cleethorpes AC hosted the annual Colin Moody Memorial five mile road race this week.

And the race was won by Louth Athletic Club’s Adam Dalton in 28m 27s.

Mablethorpe Running Club had Janine Stones, Sheryl Hawse and Carl Musson taking part.

Janine finished 25th in 32m 51s. Sheryl was hot on her heels and was pleased to achieve a personal best, finishing 28th in 33m 32s. Carl finished 60th in 41m 53s.

In his first 10k since 2011, after recovering from injuries, Mablethorpe’s Robert Hawse joined 4,373 runners for the ever popular City Of Lincoln 10k.

For this come-back race Rob did superb and came in 57th position overall in a time of 37m 59s.

Sunday, April 6, saw three Mablethorpe RC runners among 10,000 taking part in the Greater Manchester Marathon.

For Elaine Wilson and Sharon Wheatley-Margarson, although seasoned half marathon runners, this was their debut at marathon running. Sharon finished in a time of 4h 40m 43s, Elaine in 5h 02m 04s.

Andrew Tomlin made his return to the Manchester Marathon and knocked an amazing 22 minutes off last year’s time finishing in 3h 31m 52s.
