Awards galore at Mablethorpe Running Club’s presentation night

Mablethorpe Running Club held its annual presentation evening recently and there were awards galore as members’ achievements were recognised.

The awards presented were:

Club Person Of The Year: Debbie Kew (Awarded for her dedication and encouragement to coaching many female newcomers to the club).

Best Newcomer: Debbie Jinks (Debbie has only been running for a year but is extremely keen and has continually improved race upon race. Debbie also was picked out of the ballot box for the club’s London Marathon 2015 place).

Outstanding Achievement: Rob Hawse (Rob competed at national level on the track this year in Birmingham coming fourth in both the 1500m and 500m).

Best Female Performance: Sheryl Hawse (This award was for Sheryl’s Scunthorpe 5km Park Run, for which she was the first lady with a PB time of 19m 40s).

Best Male Performance: Rob Hawse (Also at national level, Rob ran a PB 4m 20s mile on the track at Manchester earlier this year).

Most Improved Female: Elaine Wilson (This went to Elaine for a whopping 18 PB’s in her races from 2013-2014).

Most Improved Male: Roger Blake (Roger PB’d his marathon, half marathon and 10k race times this year).

Best Female Vet: Tammy Rainbow (For her sub 3h 30m London Marathon goal and PB and since entering the vet category.)

Best Male Vet: Kev Harrison (Kev has had some outstanding Park Runs this year and also a fantastic time of 1h 33m 56m in his debut half marathon).

Last Sunday 448 athletes, mainly from Lincolnshire, flooded the streets of Market Rasen for the annual 10k road running event.

From Mablethorpe, only Kev Harrison took part finishing 45th in 41m 16s.

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Anyone interested in running is welcome to go along. For more information visit
