BOWLS: High scores but no change at top of Louth Indoor Bowls League

Although there were no changes of position after last week’s round of fixtures in the Louth Indoor Summer Triples league there were certainly some interesting scores.

Leaders Highgate Wanderers were given a tough time by Dreamers before collecting 12 shots over the final four ends to win 21-9. Wanderers had a somewhat easier time when beating Two Plus One by 24-3, but they can’t shake off Oaks who showed their fighting spirit when hitting back from 10-3 down against The Jays to win 13-10. Oaks then cruised to a 15-6 win over Dreamers.

Mudlarks are now clear in third spot thanks to two victories. They beat Two Plus One 14-10 and then won 12-9 against Seagulls thanks to a ‘7’ on the next-last end.

Biggest score of the week came from The Jays who hammered a bemused In A Minute by 37-9. There was no sign of the impending doom early on as In A Minute led 8-5 but Jays scored 7, 4, 3, and 6 to turn the match and then grabbed another 7 on the penultimate end.
