Two Louth Indoor Bowls Club league titles were decided last week as Seniors won the Men’s Over 60s section whilst Kingfishers clinched division 2 of the Wednesday/Thursday Morning league.
Seniors were assured of first place, with eight games still to play, after a comfortable 24-6 win over bottom team St. Mary’s.
But there is a tight battle for second spot with just four points separating the next five teams after last week’s results.
Phoenix held second spot - they beat Legends 16-14 before losing 19-9 to Roadrunners, and had a three-point advantage over Magnets, who won 18-11 against Roadrunners. Imps remained fourth after a 13-10 victory over fifth-placed Preston but lost 22-8 to Wickers, who are three points clear in sixth spot.
No-one can knock Kingfishers off their perch after having scraped a 16-15 win over Saints followed by a 18-10 victory against Louth to claim the title with six games remaining.
Second-placed Sleepwalkers lost 18-12 to Pips but then won 11-9 against Fledglings to keep their one-point advantage over Louth, who thrashed Wise Guys 27-4.
In the Mixed Fours league, SOS are assured of a top-two finish after their 32-7 thumping of Smilers. Half A Mo remained six points behind with a simple 17-5 win against Falcons.
The real battle is for third spot where Wickaholics kept their one-point advantage despite a sobering 19-9 loss against Optimists whilst Dunwicking lost 16-8 to bottom team Dreamers, who are now just one point adrift.
