BOWLS: Louth duo still in-line for silverware

As the end of season approaches at Louth Indoor Bowls Club one or two members are in line for a busy weekend of club knockout finals.

One such person is Val Sherry who has reached four Ladies finals. In the semi-finals of the Open Singles she beat Gill Leverton 21-16 and also triumphed in the Over 55 Singles when winning 21-13 against Jean Dracass.

She tasted success in a winning triples team with Sue Page and Margaret Leggett as they enjoyed a comfortable 23-10 victory over R.Stanley, J.Walker and I.Bailey and teamed up with Lu Woods, Wendy White and Joan Stones in the Fours to just get the better of S.Stainton, A.Ashwood, J.Norman and W.Blyth by 20-18.

Harry Putland has reached three finals including the Men’s Open Singles, the 2-bowls Singles, where he beat Barrie Robinson 21-14, and the Men’s Fours with J.Welsh, A.Musson and E.Jensen.

Barrie Robinson could also be in a handful of finals having so far reached the last stage of the Men’s Over 60 Singles and the Mixed Triples, but with a chance of making it through the semis of the Men’s Pairs, the Mixed Pairs and the Mixed Fours.
