Louth Ladies recorded an excellent 94-71 aggregate shots victory over Sleaford at the weekend in the Yetton Plate, a knockout competition which sees two rinks being played at home and two away.
The deciding factor was the two wins at Sleaford, the rinks skippered by Sylvia Stainton (23-14) and Valerie Sherry (24-13). Team captain Jean Holdsworth’s rink notched up a 27-18 win at home, but Veronica Ball’s rink failed to score over the final three ends and lost by six shots.
In the club leagues, Flyers maintained their slender lead at the top of the Ladies Triples with a 26-11 win over Woodentops whilst Follies stay second on shots difference after beating Kerbys 16-10. Third placed Anglers lost ground after they were beaten 13-7 by Tyros who moved up to fourth.
Rockset kept their two-point lead in the Evening Fours with a simple 21-8 victory over Misfits as second-placed APS won 17-11 against Wayouts. Blossom Way came good over the final two ends to pinch a 15-13 win over Questors but Alford suffered a surprise 19-11 defeat against RBL, who moved above Wayouts on shots difference two points ahead of Mozzies, who were swatted 22-6 by Stags.
The top two in the Australian Pairs second division both lost but still held their positions. Jim & Joan Foster were just edged out 14-13 by John Dawson & Nancy Robinson but have a one-point lead over Derek & Sylvia Woodforth, who were beaten 20-10 by Barry Fox & Robin Barrow who moved off the bottom on shots difference.
