With Highgate Wanderers suffering a rare defeat and Oaks winning both their games the battle for the Louth Indoor Bowls Club Summer Triples title comes down to the last match.

It will be decided when the two rivals meet each in the final set of games on September 2.

Wanderers had started well enough against Two Plus One and a ‘5’ put them 13-6 ahead, but it all went wrong as they failed to score another shot and ended up losing 15-13.

Oaks had struggled early on in their game against Dreamers, but eventually came out ahead 18-11 and then had another close encounter with Two Plus One before winning 15-10.

Wanderers managed to win their second game, against Mudlarks, again netting a ‘5’ when the scores were close but this time they held on for a 16-8 victory.

Mudlarks beat Seagulls 18-7 helped by a ‘7’ and a ‘5’ in the latter stages and were able to cling on to third spot thanks to a far superior shots difference over The Jays.

The Jays enjoyed a 18-6 win over In A Minute and also beat Seagulls 16-14.

At the club’s Open Day on Sunday September 7 all potential new members who attend can have their names entered into a draw to win a free two-course Sunday lunch.

The winter season schedule begins on Monday September 8 for roll-ups and the league games get under way the following Monday.
