Louth Indoor Bowls Club’s annual Christmas tournament, a three-bowl pairs competition, saw Barry Mountain and John Masters who came out on top, but only thanks to a far superior shots difference after winning all four of their games.

Pushing them all the way were Sheila Brumpton and Gill Fletcher who also won four games. Russ Stocks and Heather Masters recovered from losing their first game to win the next three and finish third with a better shots difference than Tony Powell and June Brougham, who also had three victories.

Paul Radford and Jonathan McCutcheon also won three out of four, but their winning margins weren’t so good and they finished fifth.

In the club leagues only one team made it to Christmas with a hundred per cent record. That was Seniors who lead the Men’s Over 60s division one by 12 points after 15 games. The battle is on for second spot with Phoenix having a point lead over Preston and Wickers.

In the Australian Pairs David Wise and Norman Stocks have won all seven of their games and had a four-point advantage over Tony Saunders and Joan Stones.

Derek Blow and Liz Draper are unbeaten in the Tuesday Mixed Pairs having only dropped one point but it still leaves them in third spot, one point behind both T.Craven & J.Dracass and G.Skill & P.Thornton, as they have a game to catch up on.
