The Louth Bowls Indoor Bowls Club winter season leagues got under way at the start of last week and there were two cracking games in the top division of the Men’s Over 60s Triples.

The two newly promoted teams came up against each other and it resulted in a win 17-12 for Phoenix over last season’s division 2 champions Preston, who recovered from a slow start but couldn’t quite get their noses in front.

Another excellent game saw Legends draw 11-all with Imps. In Division 2 there were convincing wins for Wranglers, 31-9 over Two Rs and Saints who beat Louth 22-4. The two new teams, Creaky Knees and Strolling Bones, both narrowly lost but acquitted themselves well.

Monday Lunchtime Triples reigning champions Castaways showed they mean business again with a 25-8 victory over Goodies whilst runners-up Kestrels had their skip to thank for making the difference in their 11-9 win against Stymies.

Castaways also enjoyed a thumping 26-4 win over Webbos in the Wednesday/Thursday morning league and there was a good win for Square Pegs, who left very few crumbs for Crackerbarrels in the 21-4 scoreline.

The newly-created Mixed Fours league got off the ground with Wickaholics notching the biggest win with a 29-9 success over Optimists whilst S.O.S. beat Smilers 22-12. Half A Mo won 13-8 against Falcons and Dunwicking beat Dreamers 17-13.
