The Louth Indoor Bowls Club Ladies club knock-out finals saw Val Sherry get her hands on four out of the five trophies.

She won the Open Singles beating Brenda True 21-10 and teamed up with Lu Woods to win the Pairs 20-13 against Sylvia Stainton and Wendy Blyth.

In the Triples, Val was joined by Margaret Leggett and Sue Page and they came good towards the end of their match against Stainton, Blyth and Alice Ashwood to win 18-13.

Sherry and Woods were also part of the Fours team which included Carol Kelly and Wendy White which won 19-15 against J.Holdsworth, G.Leverton, P.Cowling and J.Dracass.

The Over 55s Singles was won by Brenda True in a relatively one-sided 21-11 victory over Jean Brassington.

The battle for the Ladies league title was only decided in the final round of games with the order of the top four places all in doubt.

A 17-12 win over Bunnies saw Follies crowned champions by virtue of a far superior shots difference after they finished on the same number of points as Flyers who couldn’t do any more than beat Kerbys 19-8.

These two results proved disappointing for Anglers who had already completed their games and eventually had to settle for third spot just one point behind. A point further back was Jayees who won 14-10 against Birdies.

At the recent Annual General Meeting new club manager Simon Reeson was officially welcomed to the club and a presentation was made to Dave Roper who has stepped down after several years hard graft.

Alan Watson was elected club captain and Rob Lamb will be the vice-captain. Jean Holdsworth is to continue as Ladies captain and will once again be aided by vice-captain Sylvia Stainton. George Willoughby was re-elected as captain of the Men’s Over 60s county league team.

The club has now switched to the summer schedule and is only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
