Louth Golf Club had a busy bank holiday weekend, kicking off with the presentation dinner on the Friday night.

Steve Owen (Captain) hosted the event for winners and places of competitions over the last couple of months.

30 people attended and the winners were: Winter League – N. Hopwood & Gary Easby; Spring Scramble - (Ladies’) M. Williams, S. Green, E. Ballard & J. Partridge; Spring Scramble (Men’s) – G. Evison, T. Evison, G. Shuffelbotham & D. Blount; Queen Mothers Cup – J. Rysdale; Colin Blades – C. Dams & L. Freeman; Captain’s Charity – P. Brown & D. Millward: N. Foster - N. Templeton; Pete Brader (36 Hole) – J. Osmond.

Saturday was Club Day with a competition and evening entertainment from a Tom Jones tribute.

Sunday was the leaving party for Chris Andrews, the assistant pro, who is off to Australia for a year, and having been presented with a collection of Australian dollars by the Ladies section a couple of weeks ago, it was the turn of his now ex-boss, Nick Taylor, the club pro, to lay on the party and present more Australian dollars.

Chris had been a member of the club since the age of 12 and took on the assistant pro’s job, subsequently becoming a qualified pro in his own right.

A quiet lad to begin with, he became very popular, especially with the juniors and ladies.

On the Bank Holiday Monday - Howard and Mira Greenwood sponsored and ran their mixed trophy, The Alberg.

A magnificent 28 couples competed for this annual event which saw the winners, Nigel Towse and Sylvia Mortimer, triumphant with 36 stableford points; second Howard and Mira Greenwood 33; third Ian Tyas and Di Rowbotham 32; fourth Steve Owen and Flis Smith 32.
