Busy week for Mablethorpe Running Club

Relentless in their pursuits, Mablethorpe Running Club training partners Sharon Wheatley Margarson and Elaine Wilson returned to the second Croxby Crawl of 2014.

This a tough 4.4 mile course on the undulating Lincolnshire Wolds which they completed a few weeks ago. However, this time it was 8.8 miles, 2 laps of the course.

There were 86 competitors at the evening event. Given the difficult terrain both ladies did extremely well: Sharon finished in 60th place in 1h 21m 43s (10th Lady), Elaine finished in 70th place in 1h 24m 51s (16th Lady).

The race was won by Gary Thomas (Wolds Vets) in 53m 17s.

The 1st Female to finish was Kerry Stainton (Louth AC) in 1h 05m 40s (26th overall).

Special mention is made of runners Damien Scott and David Scott who both stopped to help a Cleethorpes AC athlete who had collapsed 1-mile from the finish. Both stayed with him until the emergency services arrived.

Seven Mablethorpe runners were of the 1,003 entrants that turned out for the extremely popular Woodhall Spa 10k road race.

Mablethorpe athletes finished as follows:

468th - Carl Musson - 53m 21s

534th - Debbie Jinks - 55m 13s

732th - Lisa Musson - 1h 01m 09s
