ANNE and Paul Brackenbury got away with the awful weather for their individual Captain’s Days at Louth Golf Club.

Paul’s day was effectively winter rules, followed by a BBQ and disco for all club members. Anne’s got away with most of the morning’s rain for the 18 hole competition but not the afternoon’s rain which saw the latter foursomes reduced to six holes, followed by an evening meal for the Lady members. But both had sunshine in their hearts and they and everyone enjoyed the days.

For the gents the winner in Division 1 and overall winner for the Captain’s Salver was Brain Castle with 41pts; Division 2, Mike Brader, 39pts; Juniors, Jonathan Pulford, 36pts; Past Captains’ George Webster, 40pts.

Paul also invited the Ladies to a nine hole competition won by Lesley Elliott on 18pts.

Anne’s overall winner for the Captain’s Day trophy was Alison Jenkins (Div.1); Div. 2, Karen Smith; Div. 3 Moira Baker; Past Captain’s trophy was won by Gill Leverton; afternoon foursomes, Gill Brook and Sue Carpenter.

In the intervening Sunday Di Rowbotham and Ian Tyas won the Harry Younger mixed Foursomes.
