The Year 8 side overcame Queen Elizabeth GS, Horncastle, 25-20 in their first pool match thanks to a quickfire hat-trick from Joel McIntyre.
They then played their best rugby of the tournament to edge out a strong De Aston team 15-10 with two superb team tries and Kyle Broadbent’s solo effort.
Other results went in Cordeaux’s favour as they qualified for the final before playing their final pool match.
Some players were rested for the match against John Spendluffe which finished in a 15–all draw.
The final against Banovallum was a tense affair with neither side able to make ground. Joel McIntyre capitalised on a mistake to sprint away and score the first try, but two missed tackles allowed Banovallum to level.
Cordeaux increased the pressure with excellent defence by Jack O’Brien, and from Oli Hutchinson’s good break, quick ball from the ruck gave Joe Simpson a clear 40m run to the line.
With seconds remaining Banovallum broke free, but captain Joe Simpson tracked the play right to the corner to make a crucial try-saving tackle and clinch a 10–5 victory.
