Young Louth athletes returned with two age group titles and a few new records from the district championships.
Cordeaux Academy sent a team to the District Athletics Championships at King George V Stadium, in Grimsby, to compete against 11 other schools.
It was great day for the academy whose Year 7 and Year 9 boys’ teams took the titles for their age groups.
Cordeaux also had many individual triumphs and also set some new district records.
* A 13-strong group of Year 9 Sky Leaders plus Year 11 student Tom Law helped run the Lincolnshire Summer Games event for primary schools.
Cordeaux were invited to take part in the opening ceremony because the students were helping to run three of the level 3 events – goalball, boccia and hockey.
Tom read one of the Games’ values on the Academy’s behalf alongside the Great Britain ladies’ hockey goalkeeper Kirsty Mackay.
Organisers were very complimentary about the Cordeaux pupils and teacher Mrs Howard was still receiving positive comments the following week at the District Athletics championships.
