When the very popular Kenwick Park Golf Club member Nev Green passed away last year, his friends Ron Irwin and Martin Sizer decided they would like to honour his memory by presenting a fantastic cut glass trophy for the Nev Green Memorial competition.
39 pairs competed in the betterball stableford from the yellow tees and the scores were really close, with a countback deciding the first three places.
Phil Jackson and Ryan Girdley scored 41 points to become the first winners of the trophy, snatching victory on a countback from runners up Jim Dinsdale and Roger Culpin, and third placed pairing of Paddy Shillington and Paul Dewhurst.
Ron Irwin and Billy Wright scored 40 to claim fourth place on another countback from John Ashton and Walt Rogerson.
Following the heavy deluge of rain over the weekend, the Kenwick ladies played a medal and the top players in this medal produced some superb scores.
Stephanie Brayshaw won with a great score of 103-33=70. Jo Cudmore (20) was only one shot behind with her net 71. Lady President Val Pattinson (16) came third with a net 73.
