Tiger might be missing from the Masters this year, but Kenwick’s own father and son combination of Spencer and Harry Wood led the way in division two of the April medal.

Junior member Harry posted a wonderful score of 81-18=63. His father Spencer took second place with 83-13=65 on a countback from Mark Starkey (16).

In division one, it was Chris Winney, who always starts the season like a runaway train, who won on a countback with 78-9=69. He relegated Billy Wright 72-3=69 and Mark Ringland 74-5=69 into second and third place respectively. Sam Done (2) came fourth with a nett 70.

Mixed partnerships played a greensome stableford competition in brilliant sunshine for the Gardner Greensomes trophy.

Alastair and Julie Harvey won with 34 points on a countback from Robert Wilson and Rose Stevenson. Martin and Jean Sizer came third with 33 ahead of fourth placed Rob and Sue Fisher with 31.

The ladies with handicaps of 15 and above took part in a stableford foursomes round in a qualifier for the national Australian Spoons competition.

Penny Buckley (23) and Pam Hayward (26) won with 28 points. Jenny Cutts (30) and Jan Heath (31) were the runners-up with 27.

Penny and Pam will now wait to hear if they have qualified for the regional finals at Wollaton Park in August.

There was an alternative individual stableford competition for those not participating in the main competition of the day. Sue Fisher (14) won with 30 points on a countback from Andrea Smaggasgale (9), 30. Sue Fisher is in superb form at the moment winning three weeks in a row.

The seniors invited the ladies to join them in a mixed teams of four competing in an AM AM competition with two scores to count at each hole.

The team of John Ashton, Allison Cook, David Gelsthorpe and Delia Techman won with 76 points. Jenny Baxter, Roger Goldsmith, Pam Hayward, and John Robinson came second with 72. Wendy Beaumont, Roger Culpin, Grahame Hewstone & Helen Sherratt took the final prize place with 69.

The members thanked Martin and Jean Sizer for sponsoring 10 years of this very popular competition. It was nice to see two new members of the ladies section namely Wendy Beaumont and Delia Techman in the prizes for the first time.
