Louth racer Peter Hickman says he’s looking forward to getting his new GB Moto Racing bike onto the Brands Hatch circuit when the new British Superbike season starts at the weekend.

Peter Hickman travels to Kent for the opening round of the 2013 championship where he will ride for his new team in the first two races of the new season at Brands Hatch over the weekend of April 5-7.

The pre-season test schedule was disrupted by the weather but Hicky managed to put in some strong laps at two of the official BSB test days which enabled him settle on the GBmoto Racing Honda CBR1000.

“The tests were not all about speed,” said Hickman.

“It was more getting comfy on the bike and brushing away the cobwebs since the last race in October.

“After a few laps I quickly adapted to the new bike and was soon on the pace. I am really happy with the bike and the team and am looking forward to getting my season underway at Brands Hatch.”

The weekend begins on Friday, April 5 when Hicky will take part in two free practice sessions.

The third free practice is on Saturday at 10.30am ahead of the three qualifying sessions later that afternoon which will establish grid positions for the start of the first race.

After a 10 minute warm up on Sunday morning Hicky will head for the grid to begin his first race for his new team.

The first 30-lap event is set to begin at 12.45pm on Sunday followed by race two over the same distance at 3.45pm.
