A field of 40 people took part in the second round of Kenwick Park’s Mixed Winter League, playing a nine-hole betterball before retiring to the clubhouse for lunch.

Hugh Donnelly and Noreen Bradford scored 20 points to become the outright winners, while a countback on 19 points declared Rick and Sue Fisher the runners-up ahead of Steve and Mabel Blackburn.

The men’s captain Graham Sykes and his wife Sue also scored 19 and took the final fourth place prize.

* Kenwick Park’s ladies took part in nine and 18-hole Christmas stableford competitions.

The lady captain provided mulled wine and refreshments at the halfway house.

In the 18-hole competition, for those starting at the first hole, eight-handicapper Birdie Dawson won with an excellent score of 35 points.

Helen Sherratt (13) scored 30 to come second on a countback from Jane Briggs.

Starting at the 10th hole, lady vice-captain Andrea Smaggasgale (9) won with 32 points on countback from Sue Fisher (14).

Carol James won the nine-hole competition.
