Three buzzards and two herons were seen watching players taking in part in the annual Fur and Feather stableford competition a Kenwick Park Golf Club.
Junior player Harry Wood (9) played really well and scored 38 points to win the competition, organised by the environmental committee, and reduce his handicap to eight.
Dan Blythe (26) scored 37 to make his debut appearance on the leaderboard as runner-up.
A countback on 36 points was needed to give Garry Ashford (25) third place from Dave Rushworth (17) and men’s captain Steve Blackburn (12).
Rose Stevenson (31) was delighted to win the ladies’ competition with 36 points which saw her exact handicap reduce to 29.5, the first time she has been under 30.
The ever-consistent Cheryl Gilliatt (23) was second with 34 ahead of third-placed Tracey Stobart (18) with 31.
The entry fees and raffle raised more than £400 for course improvements.
