Dan Linfoot will join Louth rider Peter Hickman in the GB Moto Honda team for the 2013 British Superbike Championship, it has been announced.
The 24-year-old from North Yorkshire will return to the grid next season after signing alongside Hickman.
Linfoot is back in the Championship following a stint in the World Supersport Championship during the second half of last season which included a podium finish at the final round of the season at Magny Cours in France.
Linfoot is now aiming for his first rostrum in the British Championship and is relishing the chance to return onboard the Honda as the GBmoto team prepare to build on their 2012 debut campaign.
Linfoot said: “I’m over the moon to reach this agreement with GBmoto and to be back competing in BSB.
“I’ve had a very scattered past few seasons and feel I can make a ‘home’ with this team. Mark (Smith-Halvorsen) is very driven to succeed in BSB and of course I hope to fit the bill and reach targets that we set. BSB is an ultra competitive series, which is continually being proven as the place to be, so I’m very pleased to be onboard with GBmoto. It is great to be riding alongside Peter (Hickman) and working with Matt Llewellyn as my crew chief.
“A huge thanks to Mark and his group of backers for putting their belief in me and I’m really looking forward to 2013.”
Team manager Terry Liquorish concluded: “I am delighted to welcome Dan to the team. Dan is one of the best riders in the UK and, despite his relatively young age, he has a wealth of experience that’s been gained at the highest levels of motorcycle racing. There is no doubt that he is capable of challenging for top honours in the MCE British Superbike championship.
“The addition of Matt Llewellyn as crew chief for Dan is also another indication of our commitment to build the team’s strength and capabilities, right across the board, and offer a solid return for our sponsors and other partners. I can already feel the ‘buzz’ within the team as we head towards the new season.”
