A strong squad of 30 Louth AC athletes travelled to Boston for the second match in this season’s Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League.
They took on a challenging course with muddy tracks, tree trunk hurdles and swamp-like water jump at Castledyke Equestrian Centre.
Great performances from runners of all ages helped propel Louth into second place in three of the six league categories – under 13 girls, senior women and senior men, and first place in the under 13 boys.
A trio of top 10 finishers helped Louth’s under 13 boys’ take top spot. Lucas George-Jones led the way in second place with Kieron Byrne finishing fifth and Matthew Spendlove eighth.
Taking the points in the under 13 girls’ race were Hannah Reid (fourth), Evie Odlin (eighth) and sister Ellie Odlin (14th).
Kerry Stainton was third veteran woman with team-mates Trudi Roberts and Kerry Drewery close behind in sixth and seventh.
Louth had 13 senior and veteran women running and the B team currently sits in fourth.
There were great runs from cross country newcomers Lisa Harkess, Chris Giles, Helen Parkes, Lynda Dalton, Tanya Gardener, Shirley Willett, Jane Cope and Karen Moulding.
Nick Marsh (second), Paul Snowden (11th) and Mick Dean (22nd) took the points in the veteran men’s race.
In races where Louth had insufficient runners to form a team, Hetti Mossop was 10th in the under 11 girls’ race, Beatrice Spendlove was seventh for the under 15 girls, and May Ashton-Jones and Natalie Stainton were third and fourth for the under 20 women.
Declan Templeton was eighth in the under 11 boys’ event, Declan Godfrey won the under 20 men’s race, and Jevon George-Jones and Josh Tarrant were fourth and sixth in the under 15 boys.
