Anglers looking for a fresh challenge can find just that at a brand new fisheries which opens this weekend in North Cotes.
Found in the quiet village of North Cotes, near Tetney Lock on the outskirts of Grimsby, North Cotes Fisheries is surrounded by picturesque Lincolnshire farmland, and it opens this Sunday.
The new £5 per day site offers keen anglers the opportunity to fish without the need to pay a full membership and boasts two well-stocked lakes of a variety of fish; Carp (Common, Crucion and Mirror), Bream, Tench, Ide, Barbell, Chubb and Perch.
Owners Jeff Newens and Lynne Canfield moved to North Cotes in 2008 to enjoy village life and have been looking forward to the opening of the fishery since diggers arrived onsite over two years ago.
A keen angler himself, Jeff has dreamt of opening his own fishing lakes since he was a boy.
“Opening my own fishery has been something I’ve wanted to do all my life and is a dream come true,” he said.
“As a day ticket fishery, there’s no membership so anglers can come, fish and enjoy. We’re really looking forward to welcoming keen anglers to enjoy the lakes.”
Jeff and Lynne designed the two lakes themselves which include islands, a depth range of 8-10ft and 20 pegs serving the largest lake.
Jeff continued: “I’ve been fishing locally ever since I can remember and wanted to create lakes that would be different when fishing from all angles of the pond.
“Your angling experience can be different depending on the location of your peg and distance from the islands, so I wanted to offer as many options as I could to make the experience more exciting.”
North Cotes Fisheries will be opening up to the public on Sunday June 2 at 7am and Jeff and Lynne are looking forward to welcoming anglers from all over the country.
The Fisheries will be open from 7am-7pm seven days a week and there is ample car parking space and two disabled pegs providing easy access for all.
