YOUNG swimmers from two local primary schools are making great waves in the sport by reaching the finals of a major competition.
Four swimmers from St Michael’s School in Louth, Jay Clarke, Leon Page, Joseph Vickers and Jamie Squires came second and third in two events held in Grantham last week.
After grabbing second in the medley relay and third in the freestyle the quartet will go on to the National Primary Schools Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield in June.
At the same event four pupils from North Cockerington Primary School, Ely Miller, Laura Muns, William Thompson and Oliver Hardesty came second in the small schools’ freestyle relay and third in the mixed stroke.
School Head at St Michael’s, Paul Fox, said: “It’s a great achievement by the boys as we’re classed as a large school, we’re very proud of them and we wish them a great day in the finals next month.”
