Louth Athletic Club youngster Caleb Stephenson took the spoils in a multi-discipline event held at a county athletics league.
Caleb won the quadrathlon in the third match of the Linciolnshire Athletics Association Track and Field League. Athletes score points by competing in a run, a jump and a throw plus one other event of the athlete’s choice.
The event is designed to encourage younger athletes to try a range a different track and field events.
Caleb, who competes in the under 13s age group, scored 274 points to take the win by jumping 4.26m in the long jump, throwing 25.62m in the javelin, running 2min 37.7secs in the 800m, and 14.8secs in the 100m.
Team-mate Isabel Carter, representing the club for the first time, finished strongly in fifth place in the same event.
Lincolnshire Athletic Association president Beryl Clay presented Caleb with his trophy at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium in Grantham last weekend during the fourth match of the Lincs League.
There Caleb went on to break the club’s under 13s long jump record with a leap of 4.64m.
George Johnstone also broke the under 17s shot putt record with a throw of 12.16m.
* From Tuesday, July 28, junior training will take place at London Road every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.15pm to 7.15pm for the duration of the school holidays.
* Louth AC has members of all abilities from the occasional jogger to the competing athlete, and new members are welcome.
