Louth Bowls: Yorkies’ Triples League title hopes suffer a setback

There was no change in the top six at Louth Indoor Bowls Club’s Morning Triples league last week, but second-placed Yorkies suffered a rare defeat to slip two points behind Highgate Wanderers.

Yorkies comfortably beat In A Minute 24-4, but then slumped to a 20-10 defeat against Two Plus One with Barry Mountain in fine form. Highgate continued their title defence by thumping Mudlarks 24-7 and crushing Falcons 33-5, scoring a hotshot ‘9’ along the way.

The Jays moved within two points of second spot after gliding to a 22-5 win over fourth-placed Two Plus One and then held off a Mudlarks fightback to win 20-19. Magpies moved out of the bottom two with wins over Seagulls (21-5) and Dreamers (18-9).

Seagulls remained four points adrift at the bottom after losing 12-9 to In A Minute, and Falcons are next-bottom as they also lost 18-3 to Dreamers.
