A trio of Louth Fencing Club juniors have performed superbly to win medals in a prestigious national series.
Sam Blair, Joe Blair, William Lonsdale have been travelling the country to gain experience of national and international competition in the Leon Paul Series.
The Leon Paul Junior International was their first experience of foreign competition and they did remarkably well.
Joe secured the silver medal from 33 entrants in the under 11s, while William Lonsdale won bronze, and Sam Blair finished 10th from a 35-strong field in the under 14s.
At Newham, in London, Joe again medalled with bronze out of 35 fencers, and Sam was seventh from a huge field of 52.
Their winning streak continued in Nottingham with impressive results, and all ending up on the podium, Joe taking gold, William the silver and Sam bronze in a field of 25 in each age group.
After these three competitions the trio have all climbed into the top 10 in the league, an excellent achievement against the leading clubs and young fencers in Britain.
Louth club coach Jim Harris said: “The club is very proud of them, they always medal in the regional competitions, but this is amazing.
“We are a small club in the countryside competing against some of the largest clubs in the country.
“Well done all and thanks to their parents for all of their hard work getting them there.”
