THE Louth Indoor Bowls Club Men’s Over 60s team were beaten by 14 shots in their county match away against Lincoln ‘B’ when winning one and drawing two of the five rinks.
One Louth rink finished well beaten, which accounted for the aggregate defeat, but the other four rinks were closely contested.
Bob Ledgerwood was Louth’s only winning skip and the victory was hard-earned. They were 14-2 down but a ‘5’ and a ‘4’ brought them back into it and a ‘7’ six ends later put them ahead and they hung on to win by four shots.
J Welsh’s rink hit back from 16-9 down to go one ahead with a ‘4’ but the opposition nicked one shot on the final end for a draw.
Another tight battle ended with S.Moore’s rink grabbing three shots on the last end to also draw.
This saturday’s sees the club hold a ‘bring a friend’ session where members are encouraged to introduce a friend or relative in the hope of getting them to take up the sport.
The session runs from 2pm to 5pm and refreshments will be available.
