Louth Indoor Bowls: Highgate strengthen title hopes

Highgate Wanderers now look to have the Morning Triples League wrapped up after two more wins put them eight points clear.

The Wanderers built an early 8-0 lead against chief rivals Yorkies which was stretched to 13-4 before running out 18-10 winners. This was followed by a simple 19-7 victory over Magpies while Yorkies beat Dreamers 18-9.

Third-placed The Jays stayed a further six points adrift after they drew both o their games. They scored one shot on the final end against Dreamers to level at 11-11 and then scored 3three on the last end against Seagulls to salvage a 12-12 draw.

The point for Seagulls was enough to move them off the bottom after an earlier victory over fellow strugglers Falcons, 24-6, thanks to two sixes in the first four ends. With Falcons also losing 15-11 against Two Plus One it left them one point adrift.

Having been nip-and-tuck throughout their game, the Magpies v Mudlarks contest brought heavy scoring over the last four ends.

Two fives saw Magpies lead 16-9 before Mudlarks grabbed a three on the next end and Magpies scored four on the final end for a flattering 20-12 win.

The remaining game also had a dramatic turnaround as In A Minute led 17-6 and 18-10 before Two Plus One plundered a seven and then held on for one shot on the final end to rescue a 18-18 draw.
