Louth kart racer Lucas Vaus grabs victory by just 0.09 seconds at PFI International circuit near Grantham

Louth CCL kart racer Lucas Vaus gave his best performance of the season with victory in blistering temperatures at the PFI International circuit near Grantham.

Vaus, 13, took on a strong field in the 125cc Minimax rotax class, winning by just 0.09 seconds.

Vaus qualified well in the heats to put his Tonykart on P3 for the main 12 minute final, also recording fastest laps in all of the three heats.

The Louth racer took the lead on the opening lap and within eight laps the leading pack had eased in front by around 3.7 secs

Vaus and Jordan Brown-Nutley then built up a lead of 1.5 sec and battled to the flag with the lead changing places several times.

On the penultimate lap, Vaus took the lead and the chequered flag securing the win by 0.09 sec with an average speed of 51.33 mph.

After four rounds completed, Vaus now leads the championship by 30 points with three rounds still to go.
