Don Noble Bookmaker Louth Billiards & Snooker League
THE start of the knockout saw holders J Melton Painters lose at home to Harness & Cooper Joiners with Martyn Taylor and Bob Strathern doing the business for their respective sides, but it was the visitors who continued to nail down the frames and once Neil Ashwood had put them in front the hosts went off-colour and slipped to a 7-5 defeat.
After finishing their league season on the bottom there was no cup joy for Don Noble Bookmaker who lost 7-5 to Dales Poultry & Game. Dave Johnson and Ian Winn (30) looked to have the hosts up and running, but when the winning line was in sight they fell `fowl` and the visitors took the match through Luke Howard, Mark Wilkinson and Jez Swaby as Pete Dales made a plucky 32 break.
Seymour & Castle lead the way in the Cons Club group courtesy of their fine 8-4 victory over the newly crowned league champions Kitchen Solutions, Only Rod Dodge found any league form as the rest of his team were left in the dark by Nick Bailey, Paul Pearson and Sean Fieldsend as the hosts ran out comfortable 8-4 winners.
In the Town & Country Club group nothing was given away as both matches finished in a 6-6 draw. Dan Blythe gave the visiting Castaline the lead in their encounter with Sibjon Builders who drew level through John Mountain
It was deadlock between NT Shaw Citroen and Louth Building Supplies, Lee Cook and Hayden Gavey both won for the hosts, Rob Johnson and Kyle Johnson both replied as their side took the decider.
Naulls and Dales boosted their hopes of a league and cup double when they went top of their group with a 2-1 home win over ABC Riding Wear. Alf Crampin and Mark Parrinder did the trick for the hosts as Mike Rice replied for the visitors in their first loss.
Castaline stayed top of their section without even playing as second placed Jack Westerby Driving School only managed a 2-1 win. Bob Barnes and Ray Charlton both won, but the away side received a minor fault with Hayden Gavey passing the test for the hosts MA Stephenson Autos.
