LOUTH superbike star returned to action at the weekend at Knockhill with a last-minute call-up for Buildbase BMW Motors and secured 13th place.
Hickman has been out of action since being unceremoniously sacked by his Kawasaki team back in May.
And the 25-year-old scored three points in Sunday’s race after just a handful of practice laps after getting the call as late as 5.30pm Friday.
As the race began Hickman got a bad start and dropped back to 19th, but after settling into his rhythm he began to move forward.
He picked off the opposition one by one until he reached 13th place.
“I am happy enough with that result,” he said.
“If I hadn’t reversed off the line at the start that would have helped my cause and I would maybe have finished in the top 10. But all in all I was happy with the result.
“I have to say a massive thank you to the team who worked their socks off for me today. I also would like to wish Linny a speedy recovery. I will be keeping his seat warm for him as I am riding his bike again at Oulton in the next round (July 8).”
