LOUTH Velo is a new cycle club based in Louth.
They meet every Sunday at 9.30am at the Woolpack Pub & Restaurant in Riverhead Road.
The club is open to anyone with a passion for road cycling. Currently members need to be 18 years plus – although younger if accompanied by an adult.
Chairman John Clark said: “We started out as a group of friends just going out informally, but decided, on the basis of the increasing popularity of cycling and the number of like minded cyclists we would see out in the Wolds that Louth could, once again, support a cycling club.
“However, we aim to be a little different from other road cycling clubs in that we are based around a good social ride for pleasure on a Sunday, usually covering 30 to 50 miles with a compulsory tea and cake stop!
“At this stage we are not holding any races, time trials etc and want to appeal more to the weekend amateur or sportive rider and people perhaps new to the road bike scene.”
Since their first ride in early September membership take up has been really encouraging, with sponsorship deals agreed and a club jersey in the pipeline.
They welcome new members. Visit www.louthvelo.co.uk and see them on Facebook www.facebook.com/louthvelo
