KART racer 12-year old Lucas Vaus from Louth dominated the Rotax 125cc Mini-Max field during round six of the summer club championship at Fullbeck race circuit near Newark.
This was the first time the Louth youngster had been back to the circuit to race since February 2012 in only his first year in the new Rotax class.
There was very healthy strong grids in all classes in prepearation for the NKRF championship round.
During practise sessions all the leading club contenders were putting in some very consistant quick lap times due to the weather conditions.
Within a couple of sessions Vaus had the circuit dialled in and was putting in some very quick consistant lap times.
The track remained dry for the three qualifing heats on Sunday morning, in heat 1 Vaus started on p8 and finished the race in 2nd position, on lap-10 Vaus set a new club lap record of 46.37 sec, a record that has stood since 2006.
In the remaining two heats, Vaus recorded a 1st and 5th position also recording the fastest laps, this quailified his Alonso OTK kart on P2 for the main 12-lap final.
Twenty minutes before the main final race, the heavens opened and all the mechanics/drivers were busy changing the chassis/kart set for a full wet race, Vaus took the lead on the openeing 180 deg corner in very challenging wet conditions and lead the race to take the win and chequred flag by 5.9 sec.
