Mablethorpe quartet take part in London Marathon

Four Mablethorpe Running Club runners made it down to experience being part of almost 50,000 participants of the Virgin London Marathon, all in aid of charity.

They were the wife and husband team of Jane and Maurice Lammiman (running for the Army Benevolent Fund), Tammy Rainbow (running for Papyrus) and Debbie Kew and Jim Burns (raising money for HeartUK).

Fourth time marathon runner Jane (Cat 40-44) finished in a time of 5h 52m 30s whilst a fantastic effort from husband Maurice (Cat 50-54) crossed the finish line for his first marathon in 4h 44m 35s.

Tammy (Cat 40-44) was very happy with her time of 3h 35m 42s. Debbie (Cat 45-49) finished her Second marathon in 4h 09m 52s (P.B.). Jim Burns (Cat 50-59) crossed the finish line in 6h 51 30m which, considering he walked the last 12 miles of the course due to pulling his calf muscle, (and a first time marathon runner too) is very respectable.

The club meets at Sherwood Fields at 6.30pm every Monday.
