Mablethorpe Running Club member Paula Downing overcame a nasty downhill tumble to complete one of the Uk’s toughest marathons.
The Bolton Hill Marathon route features a total ascent of 2,997 feet around the trails and country roads of the West Pennine Moors with Bolton Mountain Rescue on standby in case of sudden extremes of weather.
Paula was among the 191 finishers despite her fall just a few miles from the finish, refusing medical intervention to reach the line bleeding with bruises to her hands, arms and knees. She was very pleased with her finishing time of 4hr 03min 57secs for 48th place.
Steven Snape (unaffiliated) won in a staggering 3.07.28.
* Mablethorpe RC’s Kev Harrison was first vet 60 runner home at the Skegness 10k in 41min 59secs for 24th overall.
He was followed by Janine Stones in 42.31, who was second vet 40 female, and 47th overall, Debbie Jinks (128th) in a personal best 51.29 and Andrea Mettam who also recorded a 10k PB of 57.17 for 201st.
* Club chairman Wayne Kew returned to the Clowne Half Marathon and ran an incredible time of 1hr 33min 22secs (82nd) in his first half of the year.
The time, which included about 500 feet of climbing, was almost four minutes quicker than his 2014 attempt.
* Mablethorpe RC were well represented at the latest two rounds of the Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League at Boston and Gainsborough.
