Magnificent hole in one for Glynn Jones at Sandilands Golf Club


Captain’s Day was a great day for lady captain Kath Forknall at Sandilands Golf Club, with Margaret Hammond coming out on top.

Silver was won by Ann Freeman, bronze by Sylvia Robson and copper by Sheila Barton.

Ged Lee won the Meridian Trophy with 43 points, beating M Neal with 37, and Chris Hillard, also on 37.

Keith Arkesden hit the only two on the second hole and Glynn Jones hit a fantastic hole in one on the par 3 17th.

The ladies played the Granny’s Cup Medal which saw Kath James take the honours with 75.

In the monthly medal John Lamond shot a 68 to take first ahead of M Bothamley with a 73 and G Drakefield with a 74.

The next day there was a reverse stroke index stableford where Chris Hillard won with 41 points ahead of Anthony Brass 39 points and Melvin Brown with 38.

For the Captain’s Night it was a foreign card competition. George Ward came first with 46. Chris Hillard was second with 42 and Mick Neal third, also with 42.
