Hotshot Nigel Lovatt has fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition - after being selected to represent his country.
The 63-year-old, from Grainthorpe, will compete for the England veterans Down The Line team at two upcoming clay pigeon shooting events.
He will be in action in a home nations competition at Ireland’s Bishop’s Mountain Target Centre from July 17.
This will be followed by a competition at the Dubourdieu Cesta Target Centre in France in August, where he will shoot as a member of the team at the European Championships.
Nigel earned his place at the two events after taking part in the selection process where he achieved 400 kills from 400 targets, scoring 1195 points out of a possible 1200 points from three different grounds throughout the UK.
He began shooting in 1973 after being introduced to the sport by a neighbour, and he quickly caught the bug.
“I enjoy the competitiveness of it really,” he said.
“This is the first time I’ve been asked to represent England.
“I feel honoured.”
Nigel was also crowned the British Down the Line champion in 2004.
