Rainbow lights the way for Mablethorpe runners in Click’em Inn five-miler

SIX members of Mablethorpe Running Club took part in the Click’em Inn five mile race held on a very hilly course near Binbrook.

This was the third race in a series of three races and attracted 105 competitors, who had to contend with muggy conditions as well as a strong wind which meant times were slower than normal.

First back for the club in 14th place was over 45 veteran, Chris Rainbow, having a strong run in a time of 31 minutes and 31 seconds.

Mick Casey (vet 65) was next to finish in 26th position in 33.02. Then Kevin Harrison (vet 55) had a fine run to finish 31st in 34.06.

The next three ladies home were all making their course debuts and ran very well with Tammy Rainbow (vet 40) finishing 44th and taking the prize for 2nd lady home in 36.01.

Sharon Margarson (vet 40) was 81st overall in 42.46 and Elaine Wilson was in 88th place in 45.36.

Wolds Vet Running Club staged a one mile road race at Click’em on a straight undulating course and attracted 28 competitors to this rarely staged distance event. The wind dropped and the runners had reasonable conditions for a change.

The race was won by Paul Read in four minutes and 46 seconds.

First back for Mablethorpe was Kevin Harrison (vet 55) in 10th place in 5.30, closely followed by Mick Casey (vet 65) in 11th position in 5.35.

There was a fine run from 10-year-old Archie Rainbow who ran with his father, Chris Rainbow (vet 40) and both recorded a time of 6.50 in 22nd and 23rd places respectively.

The club meets at the Athletic club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and everyone, whatever their ability, is welcome to go along and run.
